Our Patio

This is our back patio. Our water is turned on twice a week at night to refill our tank and reservoir. We never run out of water. However if the electricity is off, no pump. But that is rare. With the warm sun here our clothes can dry quickly.

Winnie Again

Dad loves her.

Preaching with Spanish

We "moved to Spanish", I put in quotations because we are still supporting the English meeting and some service. But now we are giving our main support to the Spanish.
Mom went to a study of Erika, a need greater sister in Spanish,. This is the study on the left, a sweet young girl. well this week she was playing with friends and family so they all stopped to sit in on the study. They all participated.

Erika with most of the kids some had left, she looked like she was teaching a school.

Mom and her bad selfie taking with a super sweet boy that was more then happy to participate and wanted to share the few words he knew in English with them.

Walking is what you do, and yes Lyvi is wearing converse.

No Grass :)

Just to show a typical yard, if you have one, no grass just dirt. And lovely tropical plants.

Service days

Disclaimer: This is an old post I just discovered I never published, I just saved it as a draft. So when I say "today" I mean a day back at the end of August- Beginning of September time. :)
Mom and I today, It was sunny and windy!

This sweet little old couple let us take their picture, in their adorable horse and buggy.

Buying a snack on the square

A chicken and cheese burrito with onions, it looks good, and they enjoyed it.
A very amusing parade today

If you look closer this lady had a crazy hat, but there were crazier girls that road by in their trucks. One lady had what at first glance looked like a coconut bra on, but was really creepy man/demon heads.

These men were part of the parade, they all just stuck their instruments out of the bus and played.
Livable conditions here.

Probably poisonous, but was Alyvia concerned? Nah

Those are gourdes or fruits of some sort hanging above these people's property.

One thing we appreciate about Nicaragua  is how much they take care of their central parks. There is always a guy sweeping up the trash in the park (I'd hate to see what the park would look like with without him). Today there were extra workers in the park, this guy was repainting the fense.

And these guys were scraping the center gazebo, we're guessing so they can repaint it later.

The Cat named Yzma

So last Sunday while Mom and I were sick Alyvia and Dad went to give a talk out in the capital, Managua, evidently it went well and a couple crapes into hospitality they ended up with a cat. A tiny cat with adorable eyes who was hard not to love. There were many arguments discussions about the cat's name, and Mom fought long and hard for Yzma (for those of you who do not know what this name is from, drop everything and watch The Emperor's New Groove, you will thank me later). Winnie (who we nicknamed Kronk for the week) LOVED the kitten, she constantly wanted to lick her face, and since Yzma was not yet ready to leave her mom she kinda adopted Winnie as such (rolling over for Winnie to rub her tummy like her mom would have), it was so cute to watch even if Winnie got a little rough at times.

But after some realistic thinking (the cat smelled, mom's allergic, and Winnie got worms from her) we decided to pass the cat on to another family in the neighborhood, but nevertheless I figured I'd share our weeklong cat ownership.

Pig

So here are some pictures of Alyvia with an adorable pig. Just to brighten up your day.

Family

Nana and Aunt Terri at the convention with us after Alyvia's baptism.

Nana and Aunt Terri's Visit

As many of you know Aunt Terri and Nana came down to see Alyvia's Baptism and then came back on the bus with us to Nicaragua for a week. We did so much while they were here and we have many pictures, but here are just a few of the highlights of the exciting week we spent with them.....

We took them to our favorite place, the laguna. It started off an ugly day, so we went to the look out. When we got out of the car the gray clouds subsided and it was clear enough to see the laguna and the lake, it was beautiful.

Nana enjoyed haggling
On our way

This is at Lake Nicaragua, which for obvious reasons we did not swim in, instead we posed in the blazing sun for a few pictures, Alyvia's face here describes how we all felt in that crazily hot and humid town.
 We also took them Zip-lining.
