Friends From Home

Pictures from the states, I never got around to posting.

Convention

Lyvi's big weekend
Outside local brothers were selling Bible covers and such,The first day it was odd to see, but by the last day we joined in.
It had an international feel, and some wore their national clothing.
More than 20 countries were represented, not all wore the clothing.
This is the brother that gave the baptism talk, he did a great job.
One of our few family pictures, mom had the flu.
Our group, with a few extras, and missing a few. Some are leaving so the group is shrinking.

Alyvia's Baptism

For those of you who don't know,  Alyvia got baptized at our convention in El Salvador, October 18th 2014. There were somewhere between 4,000-5,000 pictures taken but we narrowed it down for you guys.
Seven were baptized in total.
Good thing Lyvi wasn't any bigger, she would not fit to be dunked in the pool.
I was worried about her salvation and stuff. Why had she not been baptized?
Felizidades!

Nicaragua Life

Here Dad is with his study at a coffee shop (that's where they studied that day, the study even bought Dad's coffee!)

Long Story: One early morning one of our neighbors came to our door asking for a ride to Managua (the capital) we get a lot of people asking us things like rides around and money usual their story is for some medical reason, they have a sick family member, they need medicine, etc. and although I'm sure some of their stories are true, we are often skeptical, anyways this guy comes and said his daughter died in Managua the night before and he needed to get to Managua, although we felt bad, we had to say no as always. After continuing to talk to Dad he comes to find out this guy wanted us to not only take him to Managua but to bring his dead daughter's body back!! Our first reaction was of course "is that legal" evidently it is! Later that day we saw this funeral parade going around our neightborhood.

Our sound system has been having problems at the hall, this is how we had to hear the music to the songs one meeting, thank goodness for smart phones!

I guess this somehow qualifies as a bus...
On this street one day the three of us found a study who was working towards becoming a publisher, very sweet, very talkative! She gave us each a mango. Then later we met a sister and her family who lived across the street, she gave us all bananas. They both invited us back to visit many times. Such a nice morning, what happens when you put the effort forth to go out, even if your body wants to stay in bed :)

Service break

We got our JW.ORG sign up!

In this picture you can see us after the third time dad ran out of gas! This particular time we were on our way to Diriamba (15 minutes away) for a study after we ran out of gas we: took a bus to Diriamba, checked on the study, went to a gas station to find out they don't have small containers for gas, went to another gas station for it, and got the same bus back to our car.

Roadwork

Lately the town has been filling in potholes and repaving roads, here are some pictures of the process.
They have way less equipment than Panama!

This guy was using a bowl and his bare hands to fill there holes in with tar! :/

Assmebly Hall

A couple weeks ago dad went to the assembly hall (which is about 20 minutes away) with another brother in our group that goes every Wednesday to do something.... maintenance? cleaning? construction? I have no idea, something productive I'm sure, but the point of this very uninformative post is that there were some very pretty pictures that came out of this excursion
I believe this is from the town where the assembly hall is, Tiquantepe.
.

Old betel grounds where the assembly hall is.

Evidently a delicious Nicaraguan lunch.

Beach Day

One month down, only 11 more to go. September went by so fast! At least it did for us, I hope you all had a great first month of the service year. :) On the last day of September we all stayed home, working, doing school work, cleaning, ect. And then in the afternoon we were invited to go with a few from the sign language to the beach.
On the way there Winnie decided she loved me and, despite the fact she grows in weight everyday and feels like a bowling ball, wanted me to hold her.

Guys on the beach were pulling their boat out to sea, which seemed a lot harder than I expected.
